Top 10 flights of JIBR glider category

Glider category is one of categories in Japan International Birdman Rally (JIBR). The machines used in the glider category are not human-powerd aircraft which is theme of this blog. But information of the handmade light weight machines may give inspiration to us.
The following video shows the longest flight of the glider category. The longest record is longer than 500 meters.

In the glider category, competitors can use handmade flying machine without propeller. This means that ornithopter is categorized in the glider category. However ornithopter may not be competitive compared with normal fixed-wing gliders.
As same as the other categories, the competitors take off using their handmade machines from 10 meters hight stage called “Platform”. Size and weight of the handmade machines are unlimited. 3 or less members of team can support their machine in start their flight.
